Built around one idea: only you can open it
Every file is encrypted on your device before it is stored. The key comes from your master password and is never sent anywhere, because there is nowhere to send it.
Strong, documented encryption
AES-256-GCM in authenticated chunks, Argon2id for your password. The format is published, and an independent decoder proves your data is never trapped.
Face ID, Touch ID or PIN
Unlock quickly; your master password always remains the fallback. Auto-lock, a blurred app-switcher cover and no decrypted previews on disk.
Photos, videos, documents
Folders, albums, tags, favourites, private search and a trash with restore. Large videos play straight from the encrypted vault.
Smart import
Bring items from Photos, Files, the camera or the document scanner. Originals are offered for removal only after the encrypted copy has been verified.
Recovery you control
A 256-bit recovery key, backups you can export at any time, and password-protected share packages to send a file privately.
Optional iCloud sync
Keep your devices in step through your own iCloud Drive. We never see your data, and nothing is readable there.

Honest about the limits
- If you lose both your password and your recovery key, nobody can recover your data.
- iCloud sync is not a backup. Deleting on one device deletes everywhere.
- The decoy space does not give plausible deniability against a determined adversary.
- iOS does not let apps block screenshots; Veylux hides content in the app switcher only.
- Veylux has not been independently audited. Read the threat model and the format.
Questions
What happens if I forget my password?
You can use your recovery key, the 56-character key shown once when you create your vault. If you lose both the password and the recovery key, nobody, including us, can open your data. That is the price of having no backdoor.
Do you have a server or an account system?
No. Veylux has no backend and no accounts. Your data is encrypted on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, ciphertext is stored in your own iCloud Drive and we never see it.
Can I get my data out if I stop paying?
Yes. Opening, exporting and recovering everything you stored is always free and never depends on a subscription. Only adding items beyond the free limits and a few Premium conveniences pause.
Is iCloud sync a backup?
No. Sync keeps your devices up to date, so deleting an item on one device deletes it everywhere. Export a backup from Settings to keep an independent copy.
Is the decoy space real protection?
It protects against casual snooping: opening Veylux with the decoy password shows only decoy vaults. It does not provide plausible deniability against a forensic examiner or someone who coerces you, and the app says so.
Has Veylux been audited?
Not by an independent third party yet. The encrypted format, the threat model and an independent decoder are published so that it can be reviewed.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later, and Mac with macOS 15 or later.
